Support
If you are having problems registering or running the test. This page will
hopefully provide you with a few answers...
If these questions/answers don't cover an issue you are having, please contact
technical support:-
Q. I can't install version 7 of Flash - What can I do?
If you are experiencing problems installing version 7 of Flash.
You are probably not logged on your machine with power user or administrative
rights. This might happen if you are using a machine at work, or within an
internet cafe.
Try using a different machine or alternatively, we offer a stand-alone
executable for Windows users:-

Q. I've forgotten my UserName and Password
If you have forgotten your email address, don't panic. Click
here.
Q. I get "Comms Error..." or "WSDL not found"...
This can occur if you attempt to sit the test behind a heavily
protected firewall. If you receive this message, then your best solution is to
find a different machine outside the network - such as at home.
Q. I thought this was supposed to be "Online". Why must I download anything?
You sit the test using a program that runs locally on your
machine, but the data is stored and analysed on our servers. This gives you the
best of both worlds - up to the minute test items, but the safety of not losing
your results if your internet connection fails.
Q. What is Flash?
Flash is a
free third-party product for delivering
interactive content across the internet. Windows XP comes with version 6
already installed, and Mac OSX 10.3 (Panther) comes with version 7 installed.
We require version 7 of the flash player. You can get it
here.
Q. What happens if my internet connection fails?
If your internet connection fails, don't worry, you can keep
sitting the test. You will get a warning page appear - warning you that your
results are being stored on your machine. The test will periodically look
to see if the internet connection has returned, and automatically upload all
your data. If you need to switch off, remember to stop the test only when you
see the green buton in the top right hand corner of the display. The next time
you start the test, any records stored on your machine are automatically
uploaded.
Q. Why should I only log off when I see the green button in the top right
corner?
To ensure accurate recording of the test, we only allow you to
see a question
once. If you switch off when you
don't see the
green button, you will lose potentially a lot of marks, which in turn, will
affect your final results. This is especially important during the "big"
questions - such as the proof reading test, or the reading comprehension
questions.
